Is Your Home's Wiring Holding Up?

Wiring doesn't last forever. Many North County homes still have original wiring that was never meant to carry today's loads: kitchens full of appliances, home offices, EV chargers, and air conditioning running all summer. Old insulation gets brittle, connections loosen, and ungrounded circuits leave your electronics and your family unprotected.

Ryan rewires older homes so they're safe and ready for the way you live now, and he wires new construction and additions from the ground up.

Signs Your Home Needs Rewiring

  • Two-prong outlets with no ground
  • Cloth-covered, brittle, or aluminum branch wiring
  • Outlets or switches that are warm, buzzing, or discolored
  • Breakers that trip often, or lights that dim and flicker
  • Not enough outlets, with extension cords and power strips everywhere
  • A home built before the 1970s that has never been updated

What a Rewire Includes

Ryan starts with an inspection, then lays out a plan room by room: new grounded circuits, properly sized wire, new outlets and switches, GFCI and AFCI protection where code requires it, and a panel that can handle it all. You get one flat price before work begins, the permit and inspection are handled for you, and the work is backed by our workmanship warranty.

Not every home needs a full rewire. Sometimes replacing the worst circuits, or upgrading the panel, is enough. Ryan will tell you honestly which one you need. See panel upgrades and troubleshooting & repairs.

FAQ

Common Questions

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Warning signs include two-prong outlets with no ground, cloth-covered or aluminum branch wiring, outlets or switches that get warm, breakers that trip often, and lights that flicker. Homes built before the 1970s are worth having checked. Ryan can inspect your wiring and tell you whether a full rewire, a partial rewire, or targeted repairs make sense.

Will you have to tear open my walls?

Not entirely. Rewiring is usually done through small, strategic openings, with attic and crawl-space access wherever possible, so most of the drywall stays in place. Ryan will explain where openings are needed before work starts.

Do I have to move out during a rewire?

Usually not. The work is typically done in sections, so most of the house keeps power while each area is rewired. Ryan will plan the schedule with you.

Does rewiring require a permit?

Yes. A rewire is permitted work. We pull the permit and make sure it passes inspection.

Can you rewire and upgrade my panel at the same time?

Yes, and it's often the smart move. Doing both together means the new wiring and panel are sized for each other, with one permit and one inspection.
