Charge at Home, Not at the Station

A Level 2 charger runs on a dedicated 240-volt circuit and can add a full day's driving range in a few hours, so you wake up to a charged car every morning. It's the single most useful upgrade for any EV owner, and in North County it's one of the most common jobs Ryan does.

Ryan has installed Tesla Wall Connectors, ChargePoint Home Flex units, Emporia chargers, and NEMA 14-50 outlets in garages, carports, and on exterior walls throughout Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, and the rest of North County.

What's Included

  • A panel check and load calculation so the new circuit won't overload your service
  • A dedicated 240V circuit sized for your charger and vehicle
  • Clean wire runs in conduit, inside or outside, routed to where you actually park
  • Charger mounting and setup, or a NEMA 14-50 outlet if you prefer a plug-in charger
  • Electrical permit and inspection handled for you
  • One up-front flat-rate price and a workmanship warranty

When You Need More Capacity

Older homes in North County often have 100-amp panels that are already close to their limit. Adding a 40- or 48-amp charging circuit on top of air conditioning, a dryer, and a range can be too much. If that's your situation, Ryan will explain your options plainly: setting the charger to a lower amperage, adding load management, or upgrading the panel. You decide, with the price for each option in front of you.

If you're also planning solar or a home battery, mention it. It's usually cheaper to size the panel and wiring for everything at once. See panel upgrades and solar electrical services.

Rebates: The federal EV charger tax credit ended June 30, 2026, but utility and state programs change often. Check SDG&E and California programs before you buy a charger.

FAQ

Common Questions

How much does it cost to install a Level 2 EV charger?

It depends mostly on the distance from your panel to where you park and whether your panel has room for a new 240V circuit. Ryan looks at your setup and gives you one flat price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Do I need a permit for an EV charger in Oceanside?

Yes. A Level 2 charger is a new 240-volt circuit, and the city requires an electrical permit. We pull the permit and make sure the installation passes inspection.

Will my electrical panel handle an EV charger?

Many panels can, but older 100-amp panels often can't without help. Ryan does a load calculation first. If capacity is tight, options include a smaller charger setting, load management, or a panel upgrade.

Should I get a hardwired charger or a NEMA 14-50 outlet?

A hardwired charger is usually the cleaner, more durable choice and can charge faster. An outlet gives you flexibility to unplug and take a portable charger with you. Ryan will walk you through which fits your car and garage.

Can you install a charger I already bought?

Yes. We install Tesla Wall Connectors, ChargePoint, Emporia, and other UL-listed chargers, whether you buy it or we supply it.
