The Complete ADU Electrical Package

An ADU is one of the biggest electrical projects a home can take on. The new unit needs its own subpanel and full wiring, and the main house usually needs work too: more capacity, a new main panel, and often a dual meter so the ADU's power is metered separately. Ryan handles every piece of it, so you have one licensed electrician responsible for the whole job instead of several trades pointing at each other.

  • Load calculation for the house and the new unit
  • Main panel upgrade and dual meter installation at the house
  • Subpanel at the ADU, fed from the main service
  • Complete ADU wiring: kitchen, bath, laundry, lighting, HVAC, and outlets
  • EV charger circuits, if you want one for the unit
  • Permits, SDG&E coordination, and inspections

Kitchen, Bath & Room-Addition Remodels

Remodels are the best time to get the wiring right, while the walls are open. Ryan works with you or your contractor from rough-in to finish, so the circuits, lighting, and outlets end up exactly where you'll use them.

  • Kitchen circuits for ranges, ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, and islands
  • Bathroom GFCI circuits, exhaust fans, and lighted vanity mirrors
  • Recessed, pendant, and under-cabinet lighting
  • Room additions and garage conversions, from rough-in to finish
  • Panel upgrades when the remodel needs more capacity

FAQ

Common Questions

Do you handle all the electrical for an ADU?

Yes. Ryan does the whole ADU electrical package: the subpanel at the new unit, and at the main house the dual meter and main panel work, plus all the wiring inside the ADU.

Does my ADU need its own meter?

Not always, but many owners want one so the ADU's power is billed separately. Whether you add a separate meter or feed the ADU from your existing service, Ryan runs a load calculation and recommends the setup that fits your property and budget.

Do you work with general contractors?

Yes. Ryan works with homeowners directly and with general contractors on remodels, additions, and ADUs, and coordinates with your schedule and the city inspector.

Will my main panel need to be upgraded?

It depends on your existing service and what the ADU or remodel adds. Kitchens, ADUs, and EV chargers often push older 100-amp services past their limit. Ryan will tell you up front, with the price.

Who handles permits and SDG&E?

We do. We pull the electrical permits, coordinate with SDG&E for any meter or service changes, and schedule the inspections.
